The Victorian Government has granted planning permit approval for the 3,000 gigawatt Golden Plains Wind Farm in the state’s south.
The $1.5 billion project will produce enough electricity to power over 400,000 homes, according to the state’s Acting Minister for Planning, Lil D’Ambrosio.
The planning approval was granted following the conclusion of the Environment Effects Statement (EES) by the minister at the end of 2018.
This project will create hundreds of local jobs, reduce greenhouse emissions and generate enough electricity to power more than 400,000 homes — boosting supply and putting downward pressure on power prices,” Ms D’Ambrosio said.
The project must now be considered by the federal government for approval.
