Facebook to go 100% renewable

Social media giant Facebook has announced a plan to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 75% and transition its global operations to 100% renewable energy by the end of 2020.

The company made the announcement after having signed new contracts for over 3 gigawatts of new solar and wind energy over the last 12 months.

“We are proud of the impact our renewable energy program is having on local communities and the market in general. All of these wind and solar projects are new and on the same grid as our data centers,” the company announced in a recent press release.
